Privacy Policy

We run a fan site, not a data business. We never sell your personal information. Site analytics are stored as daily totals with no per-visitor history. The only personal details we hold are the ones you hand us on purpose: your email if you subscribe, and your Google profile if you sign in to post.

Every page view sends the page path and the referring website to our own server. We store these as aggregate daily counts — a running total per page, per referring site, and per country. No row is ever written that ties a visit to a person.

• The pd_vid cookie. A random identifier stored in a first-party, HTTP-only cookie for one year. It exists solely so a returning visit isn't counted as a new one. The identifier itself is never sent to our database or joined to a page view — only the yes/no answer to “is this a first visit?” is recorded.
• Country. Derived from your IP address by our hosting provider and stored only as a two-letter country code in the daily totals. We do not store IP addresses.
• Referring site. Collapsed into a small fixed list (Google, Reddit, X, direct, and so on) before it is stored.

The site also uses Vercel Web Analytics, which measures page views without cookies and without cross-site tracking.

This site is supported by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, and in some regions may personalise those ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. This is the one part of the site that involves third-party tracking, and it is worth knowing about.

• You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings.
• Google's own handling of this data is covered by the Google privacy & terms for partner sites.
• Third-party vendors, including Google, may use the DoubleClick cookie to serve ads based on your visits here and elsewhere.

If you enter your email address in the sign-up form, we store that address — and nothing else — with Resend, the service that delivers our email. We use it to send a welcome note and a weekly Padres recap. We do not sell, rent, or share the list.

Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you immediately. You can also email hello@padresd.com and we'll take you off by hand.

Signing in is optional, and only needed to post in the Fan Zone, upload to the gallery, comment, or play daily trivia. We use Google sign-in through Firebase Authentication. When you sign in we receive your name, email address, profile photo, and a Google account identifier.

• Public: your display name and profile photo, shown beside anything you post, upload, or score on the trivia leaderboard.
• Not public: your email address. We use it only to notify you when a submission is approved, and to reach you about your account if we must.

Posts, comments, captions, and photos you upload are stored in Firebase (Firestore and Cloud Storage) and reviewed by a human before they appear. Approved images are served from a public URL, so treat anything you upload as public. Please don't upload photos of other people without their say-so.

Some outbound links — merchandise and ticket links in particular — are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy something. They cost you nothing extra. Once you follow a link off this site, that site's privacy policy governs, not ours.

• Vercel — hosting, logs, and privacy-friendly analytics.
• Google Firebase — authentication, database, and image storage.
• Google AdSense — advertising.
• Resend — email delivery.
• MLB Stats API — scores, schedule, and roster data. Read-only; nothing about you is sent to it.

Aggregate daily traffic counts are kept indefinitely — they contain nothing personal. Email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Account details and submissions are kept until you ask us to delete them, or until the account is removed.

Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it — including your account, your posts, and your uploads. Email hello@padresd.com or use the contact form. We'll act on it within 30 days. We will never charge you for asking, and we won't treat you differently for it.

This site is meant for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has signed up, tell us and we'll delete the account.

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, say so on the site.
